Artist Statement

The mysterious world of the paranormal has captured my curiosity. My
experience working in a haunted historic hotel is the catalyst for my current paintings.
Each painting focuses on a historic home or building taken out of New England. The
psychic phenomenon psychometry, New England history, and the process of memory
influence the work. Some images are directly related to each location while others are
irrelevant and hazy. Resin, oil paint, ink, and vellum are essential elements in my
paintings. Imagery and wallpaper patterns build up and overlap, conceal, and expose.
Through the process of building transparent layers of imagery and material, a depth
emerges. Filmy images converge with haunted buildings cultivating elusiveness and
mystery. This allows the viewer to move through the work and discover their own
surprises and connections.
